A Seaway Conversation on the Course - History of Mathematics
The course "History of Mathematics" is found in the offerings of many departments of mathematics and the course has a very diverse set of actual implementations. We would like to have a virtual conversation about this course and the range of different kinds of offerings, differences in content, pedagogy, and overall goals. This conversation could be helpful to a faculty member who has just been tapped by the chair to teach the course in the coming semester and has no experience with the course, or indeed the material. We will hear from several faculty experienced in teaching courses in this area as to their goals for such a course. We will also discuss the range of resources available to an instructor.
